DTCC Tokenization Service goes live: DTC-custodied securities can be minted as tokens; 20 participants including major banks signed up
The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a DTCC subsidiary, launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS) on 28 October 2026, letting eligible users mint tokenized representations of securities held at DTC that can be converted between traditional and tokenized forms and delivered to their digital wallets, with the tokens retaining the ownership rights, investor protections and economic entitlements of the underlying securities. DTCC said 20 DTC Participants have signed agreements to access DTS, including Barclays, Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Brown Brothers Harriman, Citi, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, State Street and UBS, and that the service is integrated with the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with additional blockchain networks to be added in 2027. The launch follows a December 2025 no-action letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission authorizing tokenization of Russell 1000 constituents, ETFs tracking major indices and U.S. Treasury securities.

Mashreq completes live tokenised deposit transaction with Citi on Swift's blockchain ledger
Mashreq said on 5 October 2026 that it has completed a live transaction with Citi using Swift's blockchain ledger infrastructure, an initiative that uses bank-issued tokenized deposits to explore faster cross-border payment capabilities. The release says the ledger was designed by more than 40 financial institutions, with 17 banks piloting it for tokenised deposit transactions since Swift announced it was ready for use in July 2026, and that its Minimum Viable Product (MVP) phase is focused on demonstrating 24/7 real-time cross-border payments.
