OCC Advances U.S. Digital Asset Leadership with Final Rule to Implement GENIUS Act

The OCC announced a final rule implementing the GENIUS Act for payment stablecoin issuers within its jurisdiction, setting standards for reserve backing, redemption and risk management. The rule also covers certain custody activities of OCC-supervised entities, and both the rule and the Act take effect on 18 January 2027.
